ASX Release - Brookland Greens

05 November 2008

We provide this update in relation to the management issues at the disused landfill site adjoining the Brookland Greens estate in Cranbourne, Victoria.

Peet Limited manages and markets the Brookland Greens estate on behalf of Peet & Co Casey Land Syndicate Limited.

In September 2008, the Country Fire Authority (CFA) in Victoria advised residents that unacceptable levels of methane gas, emanating from a City of Casey (Council) disused landfill site, were recorded in some homes at Brookland Greens and it recommended the safest course of action was to evacuate homes.

We now report that on 31 October 2008, the CFA announced the risk to residents in the area had been reduced and it has advised residents that it is safe to return to, or remain in, their homes.

As an affected party, and on behalf of the residents of Brookland Greens estate, Peet Limited welcomes this announcement as a positive step forward but will continue to seek an effective and permanent resolution.

In the past seven weeks, Peet has liaised with the Environmental Protection Authority and the State Ombudsman's office to offer any assistance possible.

Contact will now be made with a new committee, chaired by the Department of Sustainability and Environment, which has been set up to oversee the Council's management of the site. Peet will offer its assistance and ask to be kept informed about the progress of work in and around Brookland Greens.
